Beginning in the 1950s, lowrider car clubs began popping up throughout the southwest from Texas to California. In the ensuing decades, the popularity of this unique hobby flourished, with individual members each bringing their own flare and artistry. Now, nearly 70 years later, the community includes multiple generations of creative and artistic lowrider enthusiasts. Cruising: The Lowrider Art Exhibit celebrates not only the culture but the artistic merits of the people who design and build these beautiful cars. With each pin-stripe and air brush flourish a new story is told. The artwork in this exhibitions spans a variety of genres including photography, painted vehicles, and graffiti, and shows the deep influence of low rider culture in Arizona.
