Rice. This humble, white grain is an essential component to most Asian cuisines. It also holds a plethora of meanings and symbolisms in various Asian cultures. For artist, Anh-Thuy Nguyen, this ubiquitous food staple has become an obsession. In her latest body of work, Nguyen utilizes rice as a metaphor for herself as she grapples with the reality that her culture and wisdom are being lost from generation to generation.
