🚨There’s only two more weeks to see our M|otherworlds exhibit!! Make sure to stop by!

M|otherworlds artist Jessica Palomo shares a deeply personal work exploring the layered intersection of otherhood, grief, and identity.

Having lost her mother to cancer at a young age, Palomo has used drawing for a long time to process absence and loss. With motherhood, that grief has deepened and transformed through the profound love and milestones shared with her own children.

Through abstract mark-making, her work holds space for love and loss, presence and absence—creating work that allows a quiet, powerful meditation on the deep emotional complexity of becoming a mother.

🍼M|otherworlds artist Allison Moyers explores the complex realities of motherhood in her pieces titled “Baby Gate” and “Mummy Needs Mending.” A full-time artist and a mother of a two-year-old, this artwork reflects the surreal ad transformative experience of early parenthood.

“Baby Gate” is a three-part collaborative piece with her daughter Zooey, features three vibrant panels inspired by Henry Darger that depict a dreamworld of girlhood. Her daughters’ scribbles are layered into the work, symbolizing the joyful, and disruptive, influence of motherhood on her creative process.

In the installation “Mummy Needs Mending,” Moyers addresses body dysmorphia and the disembodiment of the nursing phase, reflecting on the vulnerability and strength of maternal identity. Her work is both playful and raw, capturing the beauty, pain, and transformation from #contemporaryartist to #artmom.

🎨 Upcoming exhibition, "Shifting to Joy" with artwork by Mike Margolis @mikemargolisart will be on display at the Gallery at CCA May 24-August 2, 2025

🐠 As a young man, Mike dreamt of dedicating his life to art. With a strong passion, he pursued art education and even had the incredible opportunity to create illustrations for Hallmark after college. However, practicality led him to a more stable career in the seafood industry. For over 50 years, Margolis dedicated himself to ensuring fresh seafood was delivered to restaurants across the Valley, working tirelessly from early morning until late at night.

🖌 The pandemic brought unexpected challenges to his business, as restaurant operations were disrupted. It was during this time of uncertainty that Margolis rekindled his first love—art. Since 2020, he has explored various artistic styles, each reflecting an underlying joy of life, or "joie de vivre." In this upcoming exhibition, Margolis presents two collections that radiate a sense of happiness and lightness, expressed through playful gestures and creative use of scale.
